Computing Correlations With Q-Sort Data for McQuitty's Pattern-Analytic Methods

Jae-Won Lee · Educational and Psychological Measurement · 1977

Many of McQuitty's various pattern-analytic methods require no more than paper and pencil calculations, but the matrices of inter-associations to which his methods are applied cannot be computed that readily in practice. This paper presents a simplified but exact method of computing Pearson's " r" based on Q-sort data set which is appropriate for McQuitty's methods.
