The Influence of Synonym Substitution on Integrated Recognition Memory

Synonyms and their frequency (high, intermediate, low, and mixed high and low) were manipulated to determine whether information about specific lexical content is retained during integrated recognition memory. The results suggest that it is and that mixing or lowering the frequency of the lexical content of sentences during acquisition can disrupt or weaken the phenomenon known as integrated recognition memory.
