This paper presents our ongoing work on LibreMote, an Open Hardware Framework composed by an Arduino-based device, a set of software libraries and digital fabrication models. The framework is designed to support researchers, artists and hobbyists in the rapid prototyping of wireless controllers. Our goal is to study whether LibreMote might support innovation in HCI controllers by empowering non technical users to apply DIY and Personal Fabrication approaches to prototype ad-hoc designed unconventional controllers.
