Real time failure management system

MICHAEL CORTESE · 7th Computers in Aerospace Conference · 1989

Lerge, complex ground systems often require remotely located hardware ins tellations which are monitored end controlled by a centralized commend center. Networked sites, mission-critical timeiines and high levels of avallabiiity demand a distributed real time system with en embedded advisory system. Low life cycle cost requirements demand a responsive and friendly user interfece, allowing operations and maintenance personnel to perform their tasks quickly and efficiently. The Reel Time Failure Management System (RTFMS) is driven by a distributed network database and consists of a core of generic modules (processes) which ere used for any ground system segment end ere distributed among multiple processors in a network. Real-time rule besed logic, fired by telemetry transitions, supplies state-of-health informa tion providing rapid fault detection and isolation capabilities. Using advanced user interface techniques, the RTFMS provides control of a spacecraft or ground equipment group, while observing the configuration and status of the entire ground system.
