Prestack interpretation for depth mapping

Seismic measurements are made in units of time, not depth. As we interpret a series of seismic lines and map seismic horizons, we perceive these displays as depth displays. In many areas, our perception is dangerous because time measurements can be highly distorted relative to depth.
