The development of a single, integrated interface for integrated services digital networks (ISDNs) is considered. The basic 2 B+D interface is described. It consists of two B channels, one for voice service and the other for data and a D channel to communicate control information. The various issues that surround the choice of interface as well as other aspects of ISDN implementation are examined.
