It is essential to investigate and construct a generalized framework on B-ISDN for creating applications easily. The purpose of the paper is to study the number of users that can be served through the framework designed and developed by Kuo (1994), and to conduct a comparison between TCP/IP and its corresponding highspeed protocol XTP. In addition, some future work on XTP with the generalized framework is pointed out briefly.
