A Method for Hierarchical Clustering Based on Predictivity

D. H. Colless · Systematic Biology · 1984

If a taxon G is associated with a set g of characteristic attributes, knowledge that O belongs in G allows us to predict, with varying success, that O exhibits the attributes in g. An index of predictivity (CPR) is thus defined to measure the success rate over the several members of G. This provides an SAHN clustering strategy that maximizes CPR in successive fusion groups.
