Detection and resolution of inconsistencies among distributed replicates of files

If file replication is used as a means of improving file availability problems of mutual consistency arise when the network which connects copies is subject to partitioning. A method of detecting inconsistencies is presented and the problems associated with automatic resolution of conflicts are outlined.
