Evaluation of Gauss Sums for 2-Power Order in Index 4

Let χ be a character of order N=2t(t ⩾ 4) over a finite field 𝔽q = 𝔽pf with p ≡ 7, 9 (mod 16). In this paper, we evaluate explicitly the Gauss sums G(χr) related to the group generated by the character χ.
