Abstract The communication FIR filters are used in a cascade configuration of several ten degrees to several hundred degrees which require the solution of very‐high‐degree algebraic equations for the analysis. The conventional algorithms enable algebraic equations of about 200 degrees to be solved. This paper proposes a novel algorithm which solves accurately and effectively very‐high‐degree algebraic equations. This algorithm utilizes the finite bit method and is not subject to overflow and underflow. This algorithm is independent of the initial values and can solve algebraic equations of as high as 1000 degrees. The computation time is proportional to the square of the degree.
