Approximation approach on performance evaluation for guard channel scheme

A new approximation approach using a simplified one-dimensional Markov chain model is proposed to evaluate the performance of a guard channel scheme. Compared with existing methods, the proposed approach achieves much better results on the new call blocking probability and the handoff call blocking probability.
