Probability in problem solving

We examine whether or not techniques well known from probability theory (optimal stopping in Markov decision processes) can help in selecting the appropriate heuristic in problem solving. We check the validity of our model using suitable examples and a new measure for the problem‐solving skills, which we have developed recently.
