Error performance of asynchronous DS-CDMA systemusing maximalratio combining diversity

The two equivalent closed-form expressions of the bit error rate (BER) are presented for an asynchronous DS-CDMA system using a maximal ratio combining diversity over a Rician fading channel. The computational accuracy of the BER estimates evaluated by these expressions is compared and verified through comparison with a semi-analytical simulation result. It is shown mathematically that the BER formula, reduced to the case of the well-known Rayleigh channel, is equivalent to the formula presented previously.
