Reactances Associated with a Class of Negative Resistances†

For those classes of negative resistance devices which can be east into appropriate feedback models, knowledge of the loop gain is sufficient to determine the negative resistance and its associated reactance utilizing Bode's active immittance relations (1945). Even when the external stray elements are taken into account, it is shown that a shunt capacitance is always associated with a voltage controlled and a series inductance with a current controlled negative resistance.
