Target motion analysis (TMA) using bearing-only measurements can have improved estimate of motion parameters if approximate target range is also available along with bearing measurements. In this paper we develop a scheme for computing target range using a set of bearings and passive frequency measurements. The approach assumes constant target velocity and heading during the measurement set. Compared to conventional method of range computation from angle measurements; the method presented here avoids the need for platform manoeuvre and the requirement of multiple sensors. Fidelity of the computed range has been determined with target heading. Monte Carlo simulations show the range computation accuracy for various scenarios. Using region of operations obtained in this paper the length of required bearing measurement set can be pre-calculated for a given scenario.
