Bifurcation in Doubly-Diffusive Systems I. Equilibrium Solutions

Wayne Nagata, James W. Thomas · SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis · 1986

The problem of the steady flow arising when a layer of fluid with a dissolved solute is heated from below is considered. The problem is placed in a functional analytic setting where bifurcation of convective solutions is proved and the stability of these bifurcating branches is studied.
