Optical pumping with nonclassical light

Optical pumping between ground states of a multilevel atom with low-intensity finite-bandwidth squeezed light is shown to exhibit significant qualitative and quantitative differences in behavior in comparison with optical pumping by standard classical light sources. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
