Matrix inversion by augmentation and reduction

Theodore J. Sheskin · International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology · 1991

A new augmentation and reduction algorithm for inverting a matrix is presented. The matrix to be inverted is augmented by adjoining positive and negative identity matrices and a null matrix. A matrix reduction routine is executed to produce the inverse. We apply the algorithm to compute an inverse matrix for a problem in regression analysis.
