End to end evaluation of impression based music retrieval service

In our work on linguistic porting of content management systems handling spontaneous utterances in natural languages, we present here an evaluation of porting IMRS system (music retrieval system in natural language) from Japanese to French. This evaluation can be done by comparing internal representations, or on the task level. Here we are interested in a task level evaluation by offering a web service that allows measuring the global performance of the new version of the developed system. We are then trying to improve and add new functionalities by offering a music retrieval service, automatically adaptable to the perception of each user. Indeed, a same piece of music can be judged as calm by a first listener, very calm by a second one, and little calm by a third one, etc. We wonder the final impression that covers this piece of music. It is normal that people evaluate differently the same piece of music depending on their tastes, likeness and dislikeness. Given this fact, we offer a music retrieval service based on automatic and simple methods that are adaptable to the perception of each user.
