New Results In Directional Decomposition-Based Image Coding

In the framework of directional decomposition-based image coding, a new strategy is proposed in order to improve previous results. Particular attention is devoted to the representation of the high-frequency component of the image, that is critical for both the quality of the decoded picture and the compression ratio obtained.
