The Guitar Works of Aldo Clementi
Geoffrey Morris · Contemporary Music Review · 2009
In this article, a series of guitar solos and ensemble works by Aldo Clementi is surveyed in terms of how they are prepared for performance and serve as examples of the guitar's use in a postmodern idiom. Clementi's music demonstrates an example of the initial appearance of a score leading the performer to underestimate the musical challenges faced in performance. The article illuminates the ways in which the performer must have a keen appreciation of the stylistic aims of the composer in order to create a valid interpretation.
