A procedure of barrier synchronization for multicomputers with a two-dimensional matrix topology is proposed. This procedure is characterized by a restricted region of propagation of coordinating signals in the communication environment, based on dynamic construction of a minimal rectangle covering the set of processors in the barrier group.
