Ibibio verb morphology

Donald C. Simmons · African Studies · 1957

SYNOPSIS This article describes the affixes and tone changes involved in the construction of Ibibio tenses. Ibibio, a language spoken in Nigeria, is affiliated with Efik and Oron in the Ibibio‐Efik dialect cluster. The concluding table indicates the tones of pronominal prefixes and verb roots in the various tenses, and gives an example for each tense of an inherent high‐toned monosyllabic verb root.
