AN INEXPENSIVE MASKING NOISE GENERATOR: MONAURAL OR STEREO

Charles T. Tart · Psychophysiology · 1965

ABSTRACT A simple masking noise generator which can be constructed for about thirty five dollars is described. The output is sufficient to drive several pairs of headphones or a loudspeaker in a Skinner box. Duplication of the unit for another twenty five dollars allows “stereo” masking noise to be used on the headphones, a feature which most subjects find more pleasant than monaural masking noise.
