Any company whose employees have access to the Internet or to an in-house email system is risking a claim for damages for defamation. Company employees are increasingly logging on to the Internet, or at least to an in-house email system, in the course of their work. The advantages of email and other forms of electric communication are well-known to the experts and are now beginning to make themselves felt even in some of the less techno-friendly boardrooms.
