was also considerably less, with 37 of 40 (93%) patients having no postoperative discomfort and being able to return to school soon after surgery compared with 16 of 35 (46%) who were circum- cised.Twenty eight of 40 responding parents whose son had had preputial plasty thought that the final appearance of their son's penis was normal.Only two patients were unable to retract their foreskins, and in both there had been no effort at early mobilisation.Preputial plasty is a well recognised procedure in Europe,4 and we think that it is a reliable option for selected patients with tight but unscarred and uninfected foreskins. It certainly enables many more foreskins to be saved.
