A new method based on chaotic neural networks for the optimal allocation of reactive power sources
Xiaolei Du, Tiecheng Lu · 2006
The transmission of reactive power in a long distance will increase the cost of power and the voltage decent. This paper presents a new method to allocate the optimal positions of the reactive power resources by mapping the buses in the power system into a geometric space, then, a chaotic neural network will be applied to solve a clustering problem in the geometric space. Through this approach, the reactive power sources are allocated reasonably and the stability of voltage is maintained. At last, the results of the simulation indicate that this approach is applicable and effective to improve the distribution of the reactive power in the system and the voltage stability. (5 pages)
