HARDWARE IMPLEMENTATION OF FUZZY REPLACEMENT ALGORITHM FOR CACHE MEMORIES USING FIELD-PROGRAMMABLE GATE ARRAYS
Ashfaq Hossain, Mahmoud A. Manzoul · Cybernetics & Systems · 1993
A replacement algorithm based on fuzzy logic for set associative cache memories was proposed earlier. An effective hardware implementation for the fuzzy replacement algorithm will be presented here. The hardware is based on the use of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). These devices combine the attractive features of programmable logic devices and gate arrays. The development of the schematic design, hardware simulation with gate delays, and subsequent configuration of the FPGA from the schematics are discussed. The timing diagram of the FPGA response is presented.
