BER based Power Allocation for Cooperative Communication System over Rayleigh Fading Channel

In this paper, power allocation is done for source and relay terminal in a cooperative communication system based on the required Bit Error Rate (BER) at the destination node over Rayleigh Fading Channel. Power Allocation is done for both Amplify-and-Forward and Decode-and-Forward Relaying system using BPSK Modulation, and compared with direct transmission (DT) using QPSK modulation for fair comparisons. Total minimum power required by source and relay is plotted. Results can be compared with BER based power allocation done over AWGN channel to show the amount of increase in average power required over Rayleigh Fading channel.
