Subjective judgment of artificial reverberation processes

Subjective comparisons were made of simulated reverberation curves of various shapes. The curves consist of one or two segments having different decay rates. A third parameter is background noise, which establishes the total duration of the decay. The results are rather complex: In longer processes subjects judged the length of reverberation in terms of total length, but in shorter processes the initial decay rate seemed to govern.
