Biometric technology has been associated with law enforcement for over a century. There is a natural match between the requirements of forensic investigation, evidence gathering, booking, prisoner processing and other areas of police, corrections and homeland defence work and the identification and authentication capabilities that modern biometric technologies offer. But is the technology being used to its fullest extent? And how is its use in law enforcement applications developing?
