Bubble wall-state coding

David M. Hannon, H. L. Hu · Journal of Applied Physics · 1979

Coding of bubble wall states in a current access device is described. Two wall-coding geometries have been used, a 50 μm wide conductor and a 15 μm conductor with a 5 μm gap in the center. The margins of in-plane field versus current for S=0 and S=1 bubbles are given. The S=0 margin is reasonably well understood. For successful S=0 coding the sum of the external in-plane field and the field from the coding conductor must be greater than the upper cap-switch field. The S=1 margin is quite narrow in current and is not understood. At mid margin both S=1 and S=0 bubbles have been coded 108 times without error.
