On the Ghost Forces in 3D Quasicontinuum Model

Abstract In this contribution, we propose an intuitive explanation for the artificial effect, named as ghost force, that arises in the coupling region of a multiscale method, known as Quasicontinuum method, and introduce a simple technique that can be used to reduce this ghost force.
