A graphical representation of the Backus-Naur form
R.I. Chaplin · The Computer Journal · 1973
An alternative method of presenting Backus-Naur definitions is proposed. It uses three types of standard block and two types of interconnection to produce a graphical representation in the form of a flow diagram. All the standard Backus-Naur features may be included and the method has been found helpful in clarifying the structure of the language being defined and in finding logical inconsistencies in the definition.
