Digital naive plane understanding

J. Vittone, Jean‐Marc Chassery · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1999

A digital naive plane can be represented by repetition of specific voxels sets. These pieces can be (n, m)-cubes, set composed of n X m adjacent voxels. We can also encounter 18-connected voxels sets or more generally sets of p voxels. The aim of this paper is to define a link between the parameters of a naive plane and its topology. We will look for the class of naive planes generated by a same list of voxels sets. Planes are ordered using Farey series coding and we prove the relationship between the segmentation issued from the Farey net and configurations of the voxels sets. This is an original contribution offering a new method for digital plane characterization and recognition.
