Benefits of Linear Bivariate Log Analysis Models

ABSTRACT As computerized log analysis becomes more sophisticated it becomes more difficult for the log analyst to assess the validity of the models being used. This paper suggests that current efforts to define and display uncertainty criteria should be increased. Two samples are presented to show how functional analysis, applied to linear bivariate models, can provide cap-sulized information useful to the analyst in monitoring input data and testing model validity.
