Ultra-fast CELP coding using deterministic multi-codebook innovations
D. Lin · 1992
The authors describe improvements to the code excited linear prediction (CELP) excitation model for speech coding at 4 kb/s or less. The innovation signal in the coder is modeled using a multisection codebook of deterministic code sequences. These deterministic code sequences not only improve the subjective voice quality of CELP coder at low bit rates, they also significantly reduce the computational complexity of the coder. These advantages make the coder attractive for application in the newly emerging wireless communication environment.>
