With the development of the Internet, the transmission of digital images has far exceeded that of non-image data. Because of such huge amounts of digital transmission over digital devices, data centers have to consume a great deal of effectiveness to increase the efficiency of energy utilization for energy conservation and carbon emission reduction. In Named Data Networking (NDN), the hierarchical name structure is beneficial for applications to reflect the data interrelationships. Every data packet has its own independent meaning, including content distribution, multicast, mobility, delay tolerance, packet source and packet destination, and each of which is stored in the router to meet the subsequent demands. The router can re-use the data and limit the size of the Pending Interest Table (PIT) to attain the most efficient data transmission. When network congestion occurs, data retransmission can be completed by means of cache. The copy in the data cache ensures the optimal path from the client to the closest content storage location and guarantees high-efficiency data transmission. In this paper, to make improvements on NDN routing mechanism, we propose to integrate IP with NDN routing over IP infrastructure, and therefore present a simple and practical strategy that allows NDN to perform the best performance and achieve energy efficiency in the network lifecycle.
