A Note on Eigenvalues of Matrices Which Are Self-Adjoint in Symmetric Bilinear Forms

In this note we discuss the eigenvalue properties of matrices which are self-adjoint in symmetric bilinear forms and point out that an assertion given by Stoll and Wathen in [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl., 30 (2008), pp. 582–608] is not true.
