Abstract Time Warping of Compound Events and Signals
Roger B. Dannenberg · Computer Music Journal · 1997
ion Issues O ce time warps are introduced, however, the problem (Desain and Honing 1992) must be revisited: what is the interpretation of warped vibrato? Should the vibrato rate fluctuate when time is warped? Previous work has generally ignored this problem. On (partial) solution is to build in methods for handling warps, so that vibrato would automatically get one treatment, envelopes would get another, and so on. This is convenient if and when the default behavior matches the composer's intentions, but it is usually better to allow the composer to retain complete control over how warping is applied.
