Forms-based automatic program generation
David W. Embley · 1978
An approach to automatic program generation based on descriptions of data processing operations by means of conventional administrative forms is described. A formal definition of a form provides for the specification and generation of program templates, and a library of knowledge about data objects and their properties provides for a description of data types for items on forms and of relationships among these items. An example shows how an application “programmer” can communicate to the system the necessary information to automatically produce a desired program.
