The importance of context in keeping end users secure

Poul Nielsen · Network Security · 2015

IT systems are under threat from increasingly severe and sophisticated forms of attack. While the nature of these attacks may have changed over time, along with the motives behind them, the ways in which they are delivered have remained largely the same. Why then, after so many years, are they still able to get through? The recent fundamental changes in the enterprise IT landscape have led to the appearance of new, more complex and more sophisticated threats. There is a growing awareness among enterprise IT security teams of the importance of analytics in providing context around potential threats. This provides the visibility needed to recognise potential threats as soon as they occur, take the necessary remedial action and prevent any further compromise, explains Poul Nielsen of Nexthink.
