With the evolving of the network technology, the number of terminal equipping with multiple network interfaces keeps increasing because of the deploying of various access methods and the price descending of access devices. However, the terminals can not make full use of multiple interfaces concurrently in conversional network. In this paper, we motivate the advantages of simultaneously using multiple interfaces and present a transport layer architecture, E2EMPT, which supports end-to-end multipath transfer. E2EMPT (i) exploits path diversity and distributes data adaptively following characters of the end-toend paths, (ii) reduces the effect of reordering when transferring on multiple end-to-end paths, (iii) implements smart path management policies to select appropriate end-to-end paths. Our evaluation using simulations suggests that E2EMPT aggregates bandwidth of the terminal interfaces efficiently, and meanwhile improves the security and reliability of data transfer.
