Describing agent based real-time distributed systems using design patterns

Craig Eichelkraut, Letha Hughes Etzkorn · 2007

In this paper, we define a set of design patterns to formalize the common elements of an agent based distributed control systems. These design patterns can be used individually or together depending on the type of control system that is needed. The Agent Interface Design Pattern includes a Current Value Table as well as an Agent Factory and Pheromone Trail digital blackboard. The Agent-Based Optimization Design Pattern implements multivariable closed loop control using mobile agents. The Sequential Control Design Pattern provides an interlocking safety control also using mobile agents.
