Harper 1Mr. Harper, of the University of California at Los Angeles, began his Russian studies during World War II as a language officer in Naval Intelligence. The device he describes here was first worked out by Mr. Huskey of the Institute of Numerical Analysis who designed SWAC, the automatic digital computer, and conceived of adapting it for that purpose.
