Electronic Organ Installation for the 1952 Presidential Nominating Conventions

Earle L. Kent · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1953

Some of the problems related to the temporary installation of an electronic organ in the Chicago International Amphitheater are presented. The auditorium has a volume of approximately 3 500 000 cubic feet and the reverberation time is quite long. The instrument was required to supplement or dominate the high “noise” level produced by 12 000 people. The floor space allotted for the organ was 45 square feet. Details of the amplifiers and loudspeakers are given as well as a sample of how the organ sounded by tape recording.
