Interoperability between medical image archives and consumer devices through web services

This paper describes a Web service-based approach which enables consumer devices to retrieve image information from medical information systems. The service realizes both access to medical image archives including the conversion to general image formats and the pre-processing of these images for stereoscopic visualization1.
