Tor under attack

A technology relied on by activists, whistleblowers, journalists and people operating under oppressive regimes is coming under attack from a number of directions. The Onion Router (Tor) technology was initially developed by the US Naval Research Laboratory, and is now supported by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) which distributes an easily used browser package. Yet, in spite of its impeccable credentials, Tor is the target of subversion attempts by governments and exploitation by criminals.
