Due to the flexibility and quick development, the wireless ad hoc network has become increasingly important in numerous areas, especially in an urgent time. It has been introduced to the mine for rescuing after disasters such as gas explosions. For simulating the special circumstance in the mine, a network model named Chain Model is proposed in this paper and its communication performance is given in mathematic models. For studying effects of different routing protocols used in this model, Dynamic Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) are utilized to compare with each other in the experiment. The results indicates that AODV performs best among the three protocols in this model, which is significant for our future research on ad hoc networks for rescuing in coal mines.
